Beccles A-level results: Sir John Leman High School students elated as they look to the future
Students at Beccles’ Sir John Leman High School are delighted and looking to the future after a set of excellent A-level results.
Headteacher Sarah Hartshorn said: “I am very proud of all our sixth form students who have worked tirelessly over the last 2 years to achieve their results today.
“They have shown great resilience and determination, which has enabled many of them to secure places on a vast range of university courses.
“Whatever their desired destinations are, whether it is continuing their educational journey or taking up an offer of employment or training, I wish them all the very best in their chosen pathways.”
Ms Hartshorn also gave her thanks to ‘all the dedicated staff’ at Sir John Leman, and the parents and carers of the students who have supported them over the last few years.
Jack Fisher achieved and A* in mathematics and As in further mathematics and music and is off to the University of Bath in September.
He said: ”I arrived as soon as I could today to get my results – I hadn't checked online so couldn't bear the wait any longer.
“I am so happy that I achieved the grades I needed to study maths at the University of Bath this September.
“I am very grateful for all the support I received at Sir John Leman and the many staff who have wished me luck at university and helped me to get the grades I needed.
Rose Cosgrave scored all As in her A-levels – she will be heading to King’s College London to study anatomy, developmental and human biology.
She said: “The support I received in science has been amazing and I couldn’t have achieved my grades without the help of my teachers.
“Thank you to all the staff at Sir John Leman for all the help along the way.”
Billy Gorringe got an A* in history and As in law and religious studies – he will be taking history on to an undergraduate degree at UEA.
“Today means a lot to me,” he said. “I must thank all my wonderful teachers for their kind, helpful and brilliant support.
“All that is required to achieve success is resilience and dedication, if you have those then you will do very well.”
Joseph Carr, who has been at the school for seven years, achieved two A*s and an A, and has accepted an offer to study mathematics at UEA.
He said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to all teachers and staff who have helped me through my 7 years at Leman.
“They have pushed me thoroughly throughout my time here and I couldn't have done it without all their support.”
