A village church and a community pub in Suffolk have been spotted in the BBC’s new show all about British folklore.

In the first episode of Charlie Cooper's Myth Country, the actor, known for This Country, explores the legend of Black Shuck — a ghostly black dog said to haunt the coastline and countryside of East Anglia.

Charlie visits Holy Trinity Church in Blythburgh where the infamous dog supposedly rampaged through the church, leaving four scratch marks on a wooden door in 1577.

While examining the marks, Charlie said: “This is genuine physical evidence that was recorded at the time it was made — by people who witnessed it themselves.

“So, I think that’s good enough for me.”

After chatting with locals and visiting a sighting spot near Bungay, Charlie’s humorous journey concludes with him attending a Black Shuck event at The Locks Inn Community Pub in Beccles hosted by The Norfolk Folklore Society.
