A14 between junction 53 Castle Hill and junction 54 Sproughton closed for over an hour as fire crews battle tanker fire




An overnight tanker fire on the A14 in Suffolk saw the road closed as crews rushed to extinguish the flames.

Traffic was stopped between junction 53, Castle Hill, and junction 54, Sproughton, at around 11.30pm after a tanker caught light.

Suffolk Fire crews were called to the scene and battled to put the fire out for over an hour.

Motorists were urged to allow extra time for their journeys as traffic built.

At 1am, a National Highways East spokesperson confirmed the fire had been extinguished and the road was fully reopened.
