Pictures show aftermath of Haverhill car fire on A143, near to Rowley Hill, towards Sturmer




These pictures show the aftermath of a car fire which saw a key route in Haverhill shut.

Suffolk Police were alerted at just before 3.30pm to the incident on the A143, near to Rowley Hill, towards Sturmer.

A spokesperson said the road was shut just after East Town Park to the roundabout.

The fire service was called at 3.18pm and the incident was dealt with by 3.54pm.

One crew from Haverhill attended.

A police spokesman added that recovery was at the scene and the road was hopefully due to reopen shortly but the road surface needed to be checked to ensure it was safe.

No injuries were reported.
